Volunteers play an essential role at Mandy’s Farm. From general maintenance to special events, there is always a need for a few extra hands. Getting involved through volunteer work is a great way to give to our organization, as volunteers are one of the most valuable resources we have.
There are always opportunities to volunteer at Mandy’s Farm, whether it be for one hour or ten, once a month or once a year. When people put their own time and loving energy into projects at the farm, it is appreciated. Being set across three properties, comprising more that seven acres of land, maintenance at the farm is a continuous process, a process which is predominantly dependent on volunteer hours. Here are some of the projects that always need help:
- Quarter-acre garden needs watering, weeding, harvesting, seeding and planting
- Stables need mucking, sweeping
- Property needs weeding, mowing, weed wacking, pruning, and general cleaning
- Flower beds need weeding, cleaning, and more flowers!
Individuals of all abilities are welcome to volunteer; there are projects for people from all walks of life. Mandy’s is always looking for volunteers with special backgrounds or skills to lead activities and workshops through our Residential or Day Services programs. These could be based around dance, yoga, gardening, the visual or performing arts, animal care, cooking, or service learning. We are open to suggestions, so if you have an idea or a special talent, please let us know.
