New Mexico Mutual Supports Vermicomposting at Mandy’s Farm

Mandy’s Farm has received additional support for the vermicomposting program at Mandy’s Farm (a part of the Everyone Can Work program).  Within the vermicomposting program, individuals with developmental disabilities gather food scraps from community restaurants such as Flying Star and Satellite Coffee, and then integrate them into worm bins, where food scraps, leaves, and other organic material, is broken down into compost. The resulting vermicompost can then be used to enrich gardens, and can be sold at Mandy’s Farm booths at local farmers markets.  Through funds granted by New Mexico Mutual, Mandy’s Farm will be able to purchase additional supplies needed for the collection of food scraps, the care of the worms, and product marketing.
